GROVE CITY, Pa. -- The Grove City College women's soccer team opened its home schedule Saturday afternoon by charging past previously-undefeated Wooster, 4-1, in non-conference action at Don Lyle Field.
Senior forward
Emma Herrmann (Hilton, N.Y./Paul V. Moore) scored twice and added an assist while sophomore midfielder
Tori Stevenson (Butler, Pa./Butler) and freshman forward
Marina Hahn (Beaver, Pa./Beaver) also scored for Grove City (1-1-1).
Grove City scored twice in an 82-second span of the first half to grab control of the match. Herrmann scored at 17:31 after receiving an assist from senior midfielder
Erin Venus (Medina, Ohio/Cuyahoga Valley Christian).
Stevenson then doubled the lead at 18:53 by scoring an unassisted goal, her first tally of 2024.Â
Hahn opened the second-half scoring by recording an unassisted goal at 55:36. Herrmann pushed the lead to 4-0 at 58:56 with an unassisted goal, her fourth score in 2024.Â
Wooster (2-1-1) broke up the shutout at 76:31 on Charlotte Sefcik's goal.Â
Wooster held an 8-6 edge in shots on goal whereas Grove City owned a 17-16 advantage in total shots. Grove City had nine corner kicks while the Fighting Scots had six corners.
Senior goalie
Courtney Lisman (Mars, Pa./Mars) stopped all three shots on goal faced in her 59:16 of action. It is Lisman's 36th career win, which extends her own program record.
Sophomore
Maddie Mills (Niskayuna, N.Y./Niskayuna) made a career-high four saves while playing the final 30:44.
The Wolverines will visit Mount Union at 7 p.m. Wednesday in non-conference action.
