OBERLIN, Ohio -- The Grove City College women's volleyball team split a pair of matches Friday afternoon at the Oberlin College Tournament, held in Phillips Gymnasium.
Grove City opened the day with a 25-17, 25-20, 25-12 win over Wooster. John Carroll then captured a 25-16, 26-24, 25-21 win in the nightcap from Grove City.
Junior
Lila Stonehouse (Hatboro, Pa./Abington) paced Grove City's balanced attack against Wooster by recording five kills. Junior
Bella Costa (Newbury, Ohio/Cuyahoga Valley Christian), sophomore
Kendra Klusch (Alliance, Ohio/Homeschooled) and freshman
Hope Donnelly (Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio/Woodridge) all posted four kills.
Senior setter
Kennedy Kerr (East Grand Rapids, Mich./East Grand Rapids) recorded 10 assists. Junior
Brooklyn Wirebaugh (Medina, Ohio/Cuyahoga Valley Christian) and sophomore
Sarah Harris (Lebanon, Ohio/Mars Hill) both set seven assists.
Klusch served three aces while Harris and sophomore
Alayna Dorst (Middletown, Del./Middletown) both had a pair of aces.
Donnelly and freshman
Lily Pool (Ashland, Ohio/Ashland) each had three blocks to lead the defense. Sophomore
Julia Fisher (Lancaster, Pa./Lancaster Mennonite) recorded 12 digs.
Dorst paced Grove City with a dozen kills against John Carroll. Sophomore
Lily Lagaras (Crofton, Md./Crofton) added nine kills. Harris recorded a career-best 14 assists while Kerr totaled nine assists.
Klusch recorded four blocks to lead the defense while sophomore
Alexis Standford (Walkersville, Md./New Life Christian) added three blocks. Lagaras recorded 15 digs while Dorst had 12 digs. Fisher added 10 digs.
Grove City returns to action Saturday at 11 a.m. against Alma at Phillips Gymnasium.
