OBERLIN, Ohio -- The Grove City College men's soccer team scored twice in the final 11 minutes Wednesday night to rally for a 2-1 victory at Oberlin in non-conference action at Shults Field.
Junior midfielder
Matt Herrmann (Hilton, N.Y./Paul V. Moore) broke a 1-1 tie by scoring his first goal of the season at 89:28. It is Herrmann's second collegiate game-winner.
Junior defender
Aidan Eck (Akron, Ohio/Cuyahoga Valley Christian) forged that 1-1 tie by scoring an unassisted goal at 79:14.
Oberlin (0-2) took a 1-0 lead at 20:05 when Toby Wells-Zimmerman scored off an Augie Smith goal.
Oberlin held a 12-11 edge in total shots but Grove City accumulated a 6-4 edge in shots on goal. Oberlin had four corner kicks and Grove City netted a pair of corners.
Junior goalkeeper
Teddy Almeter (Monroeville, Pa./Serra) secured his second win of the season by making three saves.
The all-time series is now tied 8-8-2. The teams first met in 1940.
Grove City returns to Ohio for another non-conference match Saturday afternoon when the Wolverines travel to Denison for a 1 p.m. clash in Granville.
