GROVE CITY, Pa. -- The Grove City College women's volleyball team concluded play at the inaugural Grove City Invitational with a 2-2 record Friday and Saturday. After going 2-0 Friday, the Wolverines dropped a pair of five-set matches Saturday in the Grove City College Arena.
Rochester Institute of Technology pulled out a 11-25, 25-23, 25-19, 14-25, 15-11 victory over Grove City in Saturday's opener. Saturday evening, Thiel slipped past the Wolverines, 16-25, 22-25, 25-21, 25-19, 15-13.
Sophomore
Alayna Dorst (Middletown, Del./Middletown) led Grove City (7-7) in the opener with 15 kills. Junior
Lila Stonehouse (Hatboro, Pa./Abington) and sophomore
Alexis Standford (Walkersville, Md./New Life Christian) each had 13 kills. Sophomore
Kendra Klusch (Alliance, Ohio/Homeschooled) had nine kills and classmate
Lily Lagaras (Crofton, Md./Crofton) contributed eight kills.
Senior setter
Kennedy Kerr (East Grand Rapids, Mich./East Grand Rapids) posted 26 assists. Sophomore
Sarah Harris (Lebanon, Ohio/Mars Hill) recorded 17 assists. Klusch and Lagaras both served three aces.
Sophomore
Julia Fisher (Lancaster, Pa./Lancaster Mennonite) chalked up 14 digs while Kerr and Lagaras each had 10 digs. Klusch, Standford and Stonehouse all had three blocks.
Lagaras and All-Tournament selection Stonehouse both had 11 kills in the nightcap against Thiel. Klusch recorded 10 kills while Dorst delivered nine kills. Junior setter
Brooklyn Wirebaugh (Medina, Ohio/Cuyahoga Valley Christian) totaled 22 assists and Kerr contributed 11 assists.
Wirebaugh served six of Grove City's 11 aces. Lagaras added three aces.
Fisher posted a season-high 30 digs while Lagaras recorded 14 digs. Dorst added 12 digs. Klusch, Lagaras and Standford all had three blocks, as did freshman
Hope Donnelly (Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio/Woodridge).
The Wolverines host Carlow at 7 p.m. Tuesday in non-conference action.
