BETHANY, W.Va. -- The Grove City College women's cross country team captured the team title Saturday at the Bethany College Invitational by accumulating 50 team points. Division II Gannon took second with 65 points while Division II program West Liberty placed third with 80 points.
Six Grove City runners finished in the top 15, led by a fourth-place finish from senior
Grace Smith (Dover, Ohio/Dover). Smith completed the 6,000-meter course in 24 minutes, 6.3 seconds. She finished as the top Division III entrant in the meet.
Sophomore
Cayla Lawrence (Mendon, N.Y./Honeoye Falls-Lima) took 11th in a time of 25:13.5 while senior
Virginia Williams (Copley, Ohio/Copley) followed in 12th place with a time of 25:14.4. Freshman
Carli Freeman (Lowville, N.Y./Lowville) took 13th place in 25:17.4, one spot ahead of senior
Julia Bauer (Pittsburgh, Pa./Woodland Hills). Bauer finished 14th with a 25:21.2 clocking.
Senior
Ella Lyle (Hurricane, W.Va./Ignite) became Grove City's sixth runner in the top 15 as she recorded a 15th-place time of 25:21.4. Junior
Audrey Karwowski (Canonsburg, Pa./Canon-McMillan) rounded out the lineup by taking 22nd place in a time of 26:40.9.
Gannon freshman Alexis Albert won the individual race with a winning time of 23:42.4. Saturday's race featured 79 competitors.
The Wolverines return to action in two weeks when they travel to central Pennsylvania for the Lock Haven Invitational.
