ALLIANCE, Ohio -- The Grove City College women's volleyball team dropped a four-set decision Friday in non-conference action at Mount Union. Grove City (4-4) won the first set, 25-23, but the host Purple Raiders took the next three sets by scores of 25-19, 25-22 and 25-19.
Sophomore
Alexis Standford (Walkersville, Md./New Life Christian) paced the Wolverines with a season-high 17 kills. Standford needed only 30 attacks to accumulate that total and finished with a .467 hitting percentage.Â
Sophomore
Alayna Dorst (Middletown, Del./Middletown) recorded nine kills while sophomore
Kendra Klusch (Alliance, Ohio/Homeschooled) totaled eight kills. Junior
Lila Stonehouse (Hatboro, Pa./Abington) contributed seven kills.Â
Senior setter
Kennedy Kerr (East Grand Rapids, Mich./East Grand Rapids) recorded 22 assists and junior setter
Brooklyn Wirebaugh (Medina, Ohio/Cuyahoga Valley Christian) added 15 assists. Sophomores
Julia Fisher (Lancaster, Pa./Lancaster Mennonite) and
Lily Lagaras (Crofton, Md./Crofton) both served three aces.Â
Klusch posted a team-leading four blocks. Lagaras, Standford and Stonehouse all had a pair of blocks. Fisher led Grove City with 20 digs while Lagaras (14) and Dorst (10) also had double-digit dig totals.Â
The Wolverines return to Mount Union for a pair of matches Saturday afternoon. Grove City meets Pitt-Bradford at 12:30 p.m., then closes the weekend with a 2:30 p.m. tilt against Baldwin Wallace.
