GROVE CITY, Pa. -- The Grove City College men's soccer team improved to 3-1 overall by pulling out a 1-0 win Wednesday night over visiting Penn State Behrend in non-conference action at Don Lyle Field.
Grove City scored 2:23 into the game as junior defender
Aidan Eck (Akron, Ohio/Cuyahoga Valley Christian) scored off a corner kick. It is Eck's second goal of the season and his third career game-winner.
Senior midfielder
John-Luc Harbour (Broomfield, Colo./Broomfield) and sophomore defender
Jake Kimmich (Murrysville, Pa./Franklin Regional) both recorded assists on the goal. Harbour sent the corner kick into the box, where Kimmich re-directed it to Eck.
The Wolverines held a 16-9 edge in total shots and a 9-4 edge in shots on goal. Grove City also had seven corner kicks while Behrend (0-4) recorded four corners.
Junior goalkeeper
Teddy Almeter (Monroeville, Pa./Serra) recorded his first shutout of the season by stopping four shots. Wednesday's win marked Almeter's sixth career whitewash.
Wednesday's match marked the 51st all-time meeting between the programs, who have played in every fall season since 1973. Grove City leads the series, 26-21-4.
Grove City will visit Buffalo State at 4 p.m. Saturday in non-conference action.
