Game Recap: Women's Lacrosse |

Wolverines now 6-1 in conference

GROVE CITY, Pa. -- The Grove City College women's lacrosse team closed its 2024 home schedule Saturday afternoon with a 14-8 setback against Allegheny (7-6, 6-1 PAC) in Presidents' Athletic Conference play at Don Lyle Field. 

Junior attack Meah Groves (Cranberry Township, Pa./Seneca Valley) and senior midfielder Madison Nazigian (Forest, Va./Jefferson Forest) both scored twice for the Wolverines (11-4, 6-1 PAC). Senior attack Lucy Martin (Silver Spring, Md./Montgomery Blair), junior defender Emily Arnold (Ijamsville, Md./Urbana), sophomore attack Jackie Rowell (Laurel, Md./Reservoir) and freshman midfielder Tori Stevenson (Butler, Pa./Butler) also scored for Grove City.

Allegheny opened up a 7-2 lead five minutes into the second quarter but Arnold and Groves scored unassisted goals in a 49-second span, cutting the deficit to 7-4. Allegheny led 8-4 at halftime. 

Stevenson and Nazigian both scored in the fourth quarter, helping Grove City pull within 12-8 with 6:51 left. 

Martin, Nazigian, Stevenson and freshman attack Taylor Blythe (Mendon, N.Y./Honeoye Falls-Lima) all recorded assists for Grove City. 

Nazigian led Grove City with 10 draw controls while junior goalie Elyse Kiggins (Zelienople, Pa./Seneca Valley) scooped up five ground balls. Junior defender Amber Wartman (Ellicott City, Md./Mount Hebron) tallied three ground balls. 

Wartman, junior midfielder Abby Roetering (Glenelg, Md./Glenelg), junior defender Sarah Jackson (Brookfield, Conn./Brookfield) and sophomore defender Reese Hasley (Cheswick, Pa./Deer Lakes) all caused two turnovers. 

Grove City finished the game with 28 turnovers. Allegheny turned over possession 20 times. 

Allegheny out-shot the Wolverines, 38-27. Kiggins made nine saves. 

Grove City honored Groves, who will graduate early, Martin and Nazigian prior to Saturday's game.

Grove City will visit conference rival Westminster at 5 p.m. Wednesday.
