GROVE CITY, Pa. -- The Grove City College men's lacrosse team closed its 2024 regular season home schedule Saturday afternoon by rolling past visiting Allegheny, 22-6, in a clash of Presidents' Athletic Conference undefeateds at Robert E. Thorn Field.
Grove City (11-4, 6-0 PAC) trailed 2-0 early but stormed ahead by scoring six times in a three-minute span. Junior attack
Matt Blythe (Mendon, N.Y./Honeoye Falls-Lima) and junior midfielder
Kobi Bui (Harleysville, Pa./Souderton) both scored twice in the outburst while junior attack
Zachary Hougan (Springboro, Ohio/Springboro) and junior midfielder
Luke Jayne (Vero Beach, Fla./Saint Edward's) also scored.
Hougan scored off a Jayne assist with 4:57 left in the first quarter to give the Wolverines a 7-2 lead. The Wolverines then extended the lead to 11-4 by halftime as graduate student attack
James Petrolle (Damascus, Md./Damascus) scored twice in the second quarter. Blythe and junior midfielder
Jason Muench (Bethel Park, Pa./Bethel Park) added goals in the second quarter.
Hougan led Grove City with four goals while Blythe, Petrolle and sophomore attack
Rigdon Greene (Marietta, Ga./Pope) all scored three times.

Petrolle added three assists while Jayne, McDermott and junior midfielder
Trey Zabroski (Mountain Top, Pa./Crestwood) all assisted on a pair of goals.

Davis Schneider (Winfield, Ill./Wheaton Academy) all tallied an assist in Saturday's victory.
Lehberg won 16 of 23 faceoffs and led the Wolverines with 10 ground balls. Zabroski collected four ground balls.
Kobi Bui caused two turnovers.
Grove City finished the game with 13 turnovers while Allegheny (8-6, 6-1 PAC) had 18 turnovers. Grove City held a 47-35 edge in total shots and a 31-13 advantage in shots on goal.

Danny Stone (Chantilly, Va./Flint Hill) earned the win by making five saves in 45 minutes of action. Sophomore
Tyler Gladstone (Marriottsville, Md./Marriotts Ridge) made two saves in the fourth quarter.

The Wolverines will visit Westminster at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday. Grove City will clinch the top seed in the season-ending conference tournament with one win next week.
