OBERLIN, Ohio -- The Grove City College baseball team opened a five-game road trip Wednesday afternoon with an 8-3 setback at Oberlin (5-2) in non-conference action at Dill Field. Oberlin broke open the game by scoring four runs in the bottom of the fifth inning.
Grove City (6-5) forged a 1-1 tie in the top of the second inning when sophomore third baseman
Kenny Lavrich (Franklin, Pa./Cranberry) singled, advanced to second on a wild pitch and later scored on a two-out single from senior second baseman
Lucca Baccari (Irwin, Pa./Penn Trafford).
Senior first baseman
Markus Williams (Sewickley, Pa./Eden Christian) belted a solo home run in the top of the seventh. He also scored in the ninth inning on when freshman catcher
Adam Weber (McKees Rocks, Pa./Montour) hit a sacrifice fly. Weber went 2 for 3.
Junior pitcher
Evan Umland (Pasadena, Calif./La Canada) pitched five innings and took the setback. He struck out six while allowing two earned runs. Junior

Jack Houston (Vienna, Va./Vienna) all pitched in relief.
The Wolverines will visit Penn State DuBois for a 5:30 p.m. doubleheader Friday afternoon. The teams moved the twinbill up one day due to impending weather this weekend.
