GROVE CITY, Pa. -- The Grove City College men's lacrosse team improved to 4-0 at home this season by pulling out a 13-11 victory over visiting John Carroll (1-2) in non-conference action Wednesday night at Robert E. Thorn Field.
Grove City (5-4) led 8-2 at halftime, then warded off John Carroll's comeback attempt. The Blue Streaks cut Grove City's lead to 11-10 in the fourth quarter but junior midfielder
Zachary Hougan (Springboro, Ohio/Springboro) scored twice in a three-minute span to help the Wolverines sew up the win.
Hougan scored a man-up goal with 6:25 left after receiving an assist from junior attack
Matt Blythe (Mendon, N.Y./Honeoye Falls-Lima). Hougan pushed the lead to 13-10 with 3:48 remaining with his second goal of the night. Senior midifielder
Griffen Agawa (San Ramon, Calif./California) assisted Hougan's score.

Kobi Bui (Harleysville, Pa./Souderton) led Grove City with four goals. Blythe and graduate student attack
James Petrolle (Damascus, Md./Damascus) both scored twice. Junior midfielder
Alec Jones (Chesterfield, N.J./Notre Dame), junior midfielder
Trey Zabroski (Mountain Top, Pa./Crestwood) and sophomore midfielder
Boden Davidson (Scottsdale, Ariz./Scottsdale Christian) also scored Wednesday.

Luke Jayne (Vero Beach, Fla./Saint Edward's) all assisted two goals. Hougan, Jones and sophomore attack
Rigdon Greene (Marietta, Ga./Pope) each added an assist.
Petrolle scored twice in the first quarter to help Grove City jump out to a 3-1 lead 10 minutes into the game. Blythe scored a pair of man-up goals in the second quarter while Bui, Jones and Zabroski also scored in the period.
Sophomore defender
Sam Stevenson (Greenwood, Ind./Center Grove) caused three turnovers. He also had three ground balls. Sophomore faceoff specialist
Colton Lehberg (Rancho Santa Fe, Calif./Santa Fe Christian) led Grove City with eight ground balls. Blythe and freshman midfielder
Joshua McDermott (San Juan Capistrano, Calif./Santa Margarita) both collected three ground balls. Lehberg won 16 of 26 faceoff opportunities.
Grove City had 23 turnovers while John Carroll totaled 22 turnovers.
Grove City held a 33-25 edge in total shots. Senior goalie
Danny Stone (Chantilly, Va./Flint Hill) stopped four shots to earn his fourth victory of the season.
The Wolverines will visit Kenyon at 3 p.m. Saturday in non-conference action.
