SALEM, Va. -- The Grove City College men's lacrosse team continued its three-game road trip Wednesday by dropping a 17-14 decision at undefeated Roanoke (5-0) in non-conference action.
Grove City (3-3) forged a 9-9 tie 37 seconds into the third quarter when junior attack
Matt Blythe (Mendon, N.Y./Honeoye Falls-Lima) scored an unassisted goal. However, Roanoke reclaimed the lead by scoring four straight goals in a six-minute span.
The Wolverines closed the gap to 15-14 with five minutes remaining as junior attack
Zachary Hougan (Springboro, Ohio/Springboro) scored an unassisted goal. Roanoke's Luke Kammerman sealed the win with a pair of goals in the final 2:09, however.

James Petrolle (Damascus, Md./Damascus) all scored three times for the Wolverines. Junior midfielder
Luke Jayne (Vero Beach, Fla./Saint Edward's) scored twice. The Wolverines also received goals from senior midfielder
Griffen Agawa (San Ramon, Calif./California), junior midfielder
Kobi Bui (Harleysville, Pa./Souderton) and junior midfielder
Trey Zabroski (Mountain Top, Pa./Crestwood).
Agawa also assisted a pair of goals. Blythe, Hougan, Jayne, Zabroski and junior midfielder
Alec Jones (Chesterfield, N.J./Notre Dame) also recorded assists.
Sophomore
Colton Lehberg (Rancho Santa Fe, Calif./Santa Fe Christian) won 14 of 24 faceoffs and led the Wolverines with 13 ground balls. Bui and Zabroski both collected four ground balls. Blythe and Petrolle both caused two turnovers.
Roanoke held a 57-47 edge in total shots. Grove City turned over the ball 23 times while the Maroons had 16 turnovers. Grove City owned a 39-38 advantage in total ground balls.
Senior
Danny Stone (Chantilly, Va./Flint Hill) made 13 saves in goal for the Wolverines.
Grove City led 4-1 early but Roanoke rallied to take a 5-4 lead after the first quarter.
The Wolverines will visit defending national semifinalist Christopher Newport at 12 p.m. Saturday.
