GROVE CITY, Pa. -- The Grove City College men's lacrosse team opened its 2024 home schedule Saturday afternoon with a 10-8 victory over regional power Ohio Wesleyan in non-conference action at frigid Robert E. Thorn Field. Grove City (2-1) led 7-3 at halftime and then carried a 10-5 lead into the final quarter.

Matt Blythe (Mendon, N.Y./Honeoye Falls-Lima) fired in three goals to help pace the Wolverines while sophomore attack
Rigdon Greene (Marietta, Ga./Pope) added two goals and an assist.

Kobi Bui (Harleysville, Pa./Souderton) recorded a team-leading four points as he had a goal and three assists. Graduate student attack

Stewart McClain (Lancaster, Pa./Lampeter-Strasburg) all added goals for Grove City.

Trey Zabroski (Mountain Top, Pa./Crestwood) recorded an assist for Grove City, which did not allow Ohio Wesleyan to score on any of its seven man-up opportunities.
McClain and Hougan scored unassisted goals in the first three minutes to give Grove City an early 2-0 lead. Blythe scored off a Bui assist with 17 seconds left in the period, extending the lead to 3-0.
Blythe scored twice in the second quarter and Bui added a goal with 3:51 remaining in the first half, helping the Wolverines take a 7-2 lead.
Senior
Danny Stone (Chantilly, Va./Flint Hill) made 14 saves to earn his second win of the season. Each team had 29 total shots. Ohio Wesleyan held a 22-20 edge in shots on goal.
Grove City held a 33-31 advantage in total ground balls. Sophomore faceoff specialist
Colton Lehberg (Rancho Santa Fe, Calif./Santa Fe Christian) picked up nine ground balls while Stone had five ground balls. Zabroski, sophomore defender
Sam Stevenson (Greenwood, Ind./Center Grove) and freshman defender
Nathaniel Clark (Oakwood, Ohio/Oakwood) all recorded three ground balls.
Stevenson caused three turnovers. Ohio Wesleyan had 28 turnovers while the Wolverines turned over the ball 35 times. Lehberg won 12 of 19 faceoffs.
Grove City will host Thiel at 4 p.m. Tuesday in Presidents' Athletic Conference action at Robert E. Thorn Field.
