CLEVELAND, Ohio -- The Grove City College men's track and field team produced several notable performances indoors Saturday at the season-opening Case Western Reserve Holiday Classic.
Two Grove City track performers posted runner-up finishes at Saturday's event. Junior
Alex Mitchell (Hummelstown, Pa./Harrisburg Christian) captured second in the 400 meters with a time of 48.87 seconds while junior
Isaac Young (Jordan, Minn./Jordan) took second in the 800 meters with a time of 2:03.61.Â
Mitchell also finished third in the 200 with a time of 22.57 seconds. Junior
Caleb Willis (Erie, Pa./McDowell) captured third in the 3000 (9:47.05). Junior
Tucker Owens (Gainesville, N.Y./Letchworth) led Grove City in the field events by finishing third in the pole vault. Owens cleared 13 feet, 1 1/2 inches.Â

Michael Chambers (Bridgeville, Pa./Canon-McMillan) also cleared 13-1 1/2 in the pole vault to take fourth place. Freshman
Brandon Kendrew (Harmony, Pa./Seneca Valley) took sixth in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.97 seconds.Â
Junior
Greg Wilson (Akron, Ohio/Revere) took ninth in the 400 (52.89) while freshman
Gabriel Bibawy (Sunbury, Ohio/Big Walnut) debuted by finishing ninth in the mile with a time of 4:40.28. Senior
Nick Petucci (Altoona, Pa./Altoona) finished 10th in the triple jump with a mark of 41-10 1/2.
Grove City returns to competition January 17 at the Youngstown State Collegiate Invitational.
