GROVE CITY, Pa. -- Two Grove City College men's soccer standouts earned United Soccer Coaches All-Region honors this week in NCAA Region VII. Junior goalkeeper
Teddy Almeter (Monroeville, Pa./Serra) and junior midfielder
Aidan Eck (Akron, Ohio/Cuyahoga Valley Christian) both earned Third Team All-Region through voting conducted by the region's head coaches.
Almeter started all 19 matches in goal this fall, recording a 0.80 goals-against average. He posted seven shutouts and held six other opponents to only one goal. His 0.80 GAA ranks fourth on Grove City's single-season list while his seven shutouts are tied for fifth on the Wolverines' single-season list.
Almeter ranked second in the Presidents' Athletic Conference in goals-against average, third in shutouts and third in save percentage (.795). His 0.88 career goals-against average ranks second in program history.
Eck began the season at defender before moving to midfield early in the season. He started all 19 matches this fall, finishing with six goals and an assist. Eck ranked second on the team in goals and points (13).
Almeter and Eck also earned First Team All-PAC honors from the conference's head coaches. The Wolverines finished 12-4-3 overall, including a 7-2-1 mark in conference action.
This is the 10th time in the last 13 fall seasons that Grove City has produced at least one All-Region selection in men's soccer.
Region VII includes the Presidents' Athletic Conference, the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference, the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference, the North Coast Athletic Conference and the Ohio Athletic Conference.
