GREENSBURG, Pa. -- Four Grove City College men's basketball players scored in double figures Saturday night but the Wolverines dropped a 78-76 overtime decision at Pitt-Greensburg (1-0) in non-conference play at Chambers Hall.
Senior guard
Chase Yarberough (Lititz, Pa./Warwick) paced Grove City (1-1) with an 18-point, 10-rebound double-double while junior guard
Mike Christenson (Oakton, Va./Trinity) fired in 16 points. Senior guard
Jonah Bock (Erie, Pa./McDowell) hit four three-pointers as part of a 12-point outing while sophomore center
Isaac Cherry (Sagamore Hills, Ohio/Nordonia) tossed in 11 points.
Grove City led 43-32 at halftime but Pitt-Greensburg rallied to take the lead in the second half. Yarberough's layup with 22 seconds left in regulation tied the game at 71. Pitt-Greensburg outscored Grove City in the extra five minutes, 7-5, however.
Grove City shot 48 percent (28 of 59) from the field for the game while Pitt-Greensburg hit 31 of 65 (48 percent) field goal attempts. The Bobcats shot 57 percent (16 of 28) in the second half.
Grove City out-rebounded the hosts, 43-28. Cherry added five rebounds. Christenson and senior forward
John Ward (Indian Land, S.C./Covenant Day, N.C.) both had three assists.
The Wolverines turned over the ball 20 times. Pitt-Greensburg committed nine turnovers.
Michael Bigley led Pitt-Greensburg with 22 points.
Grove City will open its home schedule Wednesday at 6 p.m. when Pitt-Bradford visits the Grove City College Arena for a non-conference game.
