GREENSBURG, Pa. -- Fourteen Grove City College women's basketball players recorded multiple field goals Saturday afternoon as the Wolverines rolled to a 103-46 win at Pitt-Greensburg in non-conference action at Chambers Hall.
Grove City (1-2) bolted to a 30-10 lead in the first quarter and extended the lead to 49-19 by halftime.
Junior guard
Reese Hasley (Cheswick, Pa./Deer Lakes) and junior center
Emma Ulmer (Northumberland, Pa./Northumberland Christian) each scored a team-leading 10 points for the Wolverines. Junior forward
Meredith Sherrerd (New Braunfels, Texas/New Braunfels) added nine points.
Senior guard
Jaden Davinsizer (Harmony, Pa./Seneca Valley), senior guard
Haley Hertzler (McKeesport, Pa./McKeesport), sophomore guard
Alexa McDole (Evans City, Pa./Mars) and senior guard
Mara Polczynski (Irwin, Pa./Norwin) all chipped in eight points.
Grove City shot 38 of 89 (43 percent) while holding Pitt-Greensburg to 17-of-61 (28 percent) shooting. The Wolverines also amassed a 64-35 edge in rebounds. Senior center
Emily Wentworth (Potsdam, N.Y./Canton) collected a team-leading eight rebounds while Hertzler and Sherrerd had seven boards.
Hasley assisted five field goals. Hertzler handed out four assists and Ulmer tallied three assists. Polczynski had three steals. Grove City forced 23 turnovers. The Wolverines had a season-low 12 turnovers.
Melina Maietta and Sarah Penrod each scored a dozen points for the Bobcats (0-3).
Grove City will open Presidents' Athletic Conference play at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday when the Wolverines host Waynesburg University. That will also be Grove City's home opener in the Grove City College Arena.
