BETHANY, W.Va. -- Junior
Bella Costa (Newbury, Ohio/Cuyahoga Valley Christian) pounded out a career-high 20 kills Wednesday night while four teammates also recorded double-digit kills totals to help the Grove City College women's volleyball team rally for a five-set win at Bethany in Presidents' Athletic Conference action at Hummel Field House.
Grove City won the first set, 25-21. Bethany picked up set wins of 25-21 and 25-22 before the Wolverines rebounded for a 25-10 victory in set four. Grove City then scored six of the final seven points in the fifth set to earn a 15-11 win.
Costa, sophomore
Kendra Klusch (Alliance, Ohio/Homeschooled) and junior
Lila Stonehouse (Hatboro, Pa./Abington) all had three kills in the decisive fifth set. Stonehouse clinched the win with her 13th and final kill of the night. That matched her career high Klusch also finished with a career-high 13 kills.
Sophomore
Lily Lagaras (Crofton, Md./Crofton) recorded 11 kills while sophomore
Alexis Standford (Walkersville, Md./New Life Christian) chalked up 10 kills. The Wolverines (10-8, 1-1 PAC) also received nine kills from freshman
Lilly Pool (Ashland, Ohio/Ashland).
Senior setter
Kennedy Kerr (East Grand Rapids, Mich./East Grand Rapids) recorded a season-high 30 assists. Junior
Brooklyn Wirebaugh (Medina, Ohio/Cuyahoga Valley Christian) and sophomore
Sarah Harris (Lebanon, Ohio/Mars Hill) both had 15 assists from the setter position.
Klusch led Grove City with five blocks. Stonehouse finished with four blocks. Sophomore libero
Julia Fisher (Lancaster, Pa./Lancaster Mennonite) posted a season-best 37 digs. Costa had 15 digs while Lagaras collected 12 digs. Kerr and junior
Ella Kopas (Tucson, Ariz./Veritas) each had 10 digs.
Wednesday's match started a three-match road trip for the Wolverines. Grove City will visit Saint Vincent at 2 p.m. Saturday in Latrobe.
