LATROBE, Pa. -- The Grove City College men's soccer team did not yield a shot on goal Tuesday night on the way to a 2-0 victory at Saint Vincent (2-9-6, 1-6-1) in Presidents' Athletic Conference action at UPMC Field.
Offensively, Grove City (9-3-2, 6-2) broke through by scoring twice in a two-minute, 27-second span of the second half. Junior midfielder
Aidan Eck (Akron, Ohio/Cuyahoga Valley Christian) broke the scoreless deadlock at 61:02 by scoring an unassisted goal.
The lead quickly grew to 2-0 at 63:29 when graduate student defender
Colton Hudson (Murrysville, Pa./Franklin Regional) scored his first goal of 2024. Sophomore midfielder
Noah Gray (Glen Mills, Pa./The Christian Academy) assisted Hudson's goal.
Grove City outshot the Bearcats, 31-5, including a 10-0 advantage in shots on goal. The Wolverines had eight corner kicks while Saint Vincent netted one corner kick.
Junior goalkeeper
Teddy Almeter (Monroeville, Pa./Serra) recorded the win in goal. It is the Wolverines' sixth shutout of the season.
Eck recorded his second game-winning goal of the season. He and Gray share the team lead with six goals. Gray has a team-leading three game-winners. They each have a team-leading 13 points. Nine of Eck's 13 points have come in conference play.
The Wolverines will visit conference foe Washington & Jefferson at 3 p.m. Saturday.
