GROVE CITY, Pa. -- The Grove City College women's soccer team scored five times in a 26-minute span of the first half Wednesday afternoon on the way to a 5-2 victory over visiting Geneva in Presidents' Athletic Conference action at Don Lyle Field.
Senior forward
Emma Herrmann (Hilton, N.Y./Paul V. Moore) and freshman forward
Kiara White (Perkiomenville, Pa./Perkiomen Valley) both notched a goal and an assist. Junior midfielder Hailey Muñoz (Sparta, N.J./Morris Catholic), sophomore midfielder
Tori Stevenson (Butler, Pa./Butler) and freshman midfielder
Marina Hahn (Beaver, Pa./Beaver) all added goals.
Stevenson gave Grove City (6-3-1, 3-0 PAC) a 1-0 lead at 17:52 when she blasted her third goal of the season into the top of the net. Herrmann and junior defender
Karly Keller (New Kensington, Pa./Kiski Area) both assisted Stevenson's goal.
Hahn doubled the lead at 22:57 when she bent her corner kick into the goal for her third score of the season. Fifty-one seconds later, Herrmann scored her team-leading ninth goal of the season after receiving a feed from White.
Muñoz posted her first goal of the season at 39:05 when she chipped the ball from the right side of the box over Geneva goalkeeper Jade Farnsworth. White closed the first-half scoring at 43:31 with her fourth goal of 2024. Senior
Ella Wrabley (Carnegie, Pa./Our Lady of the Sacred Heart) assisted White's goal.
Geneva scored twice in the final 1:19 to break up the shutout. Olivia Anson scored an unassisted goal at 88:41 while Abby Stover followed with a goal 47 seconds later.
Grove City outshot the Golden Tornadoes, 29-13. The Wolverines had 13 shots on goal while Geneva recorded eight shots on goal. Grove City held a 6-2 edge in corner kicks.
Senior goalie
Courtney Lisman (Mars, Pa./Mars) earned her 40th career victory by playing the first half. She made one save in 45 minutes of action. Sophomore
Maddie Mills (Niskayuna, N.Y./Niskayuna) made five saves in the second half.
Grove City will visit Thiel at 2:30 p.m. Saturday in conference action.
