GROVE CITY, Pa. -- The Grove City College women's soccer team dropped to 1-1 at home this fall with a 5-0 setback Wednesday night to No. 2 Carnegie Mellon (6-0) in non-conference action at Don Lyle Field. CMU scored twice in the first half, then sealed the win with three goals over the final 45 minutes.

Courtney Lisman (Mars, Pa./Mars) stopped eight shots for the Wolverines (2-3), including six saves in the first half. Carnegie Mellon held a 23-3 edge in total shots. Grove City earned an 8-7 advantage in corner kicks, however.
CMU's Maria Askounis broke the scoreless tie by scoring at 22:45. Jenna Halbeck doubled the lead when she scored at 28:14. In the second half, Cecelia Deterich (52:34), Saveria Uliza (76:03) and Natalie Rayce (88:27) scored for CMU, which reached the third round of the NCAA Championship Tournament in 2022.
The Wolverines will host Susquehanna at 4:30 p.m. Saturday at Don Lyle Field. That is Grove City's final tune-up for Presidents' Athletic Conference play, which starts next Wednesday at Chatham.
