GROVE CITY, Pa. -- The Grove City College women's volleyball team closed the home schedule Saturday afternoon with a 25-17, 25-23, 12-25, 25-21 Senior Day victory over Presidents' Athletic Conference rival Geneva at the Grove City College Arena.
The win propels the Wolverines (19-10, 5-5 PAC) into next week's six-team conference tournament.
Freshman
Alayna Dorst (Middletown, Del./Middletown) pounded out 13 kills while senior
Grace Kim (Sanford, N.C./Harnett Warriors) posted 11 kills. Freshman
Alexis Standford (Walkersville, Md./New Life Christian) posted 10 kills.
Sophomore setter
Brooklyn Wirebaugh (Medina, Ohio/Cuyahoga Valley Christian) led Grove City with 24 assists and junior
Kennedy Kerr (East Grand Rapids, Mich./East Grand Rapids) added 18 assists. Senior
Erin Baldwin (Chicago, Ill./Christian Liberty) served the Wolverines' lone ace.
Senior
Anna DeGraaf (Cranberry Township, Pa./Seneca Valley) led Grove City with six blocks. She combined with Dorst for a block on the match-clinching point. Junior
Audrey Donnelly (Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio/Woodridge) posted four blocks while senior
Eloise Sutter (Lebanon, Ohio/Mars Hill) contributed three blocks.
Senior libero
Gabby Lucas (Butler, Pa./Butler) led the defense with 28 digs. Kerr collected 16 digs while Kim had 14 digs. Dorst recorded a dozen digs.
Lucas now has 1,406 career digs. She moved into 10th place on Grove City's career list.
Grove City honored Baldwin, DeGraaf, Kim, Lucas and Sutter prior to Saturday's match.
The Wolverines will either be the No. 5 or No. 6 seed in next week's tournament, dependent upon Saturday night's Westminster-Saint Vincent match. Grove City will visit either No. 3 Allegheny or No. 4 Washington & Jefferson in Tuesday night's quarterfinals.
