BEAVER FALLS, Pa. -- The Grove City College men's soccer team dropped a 1-0 decision Saturday night at longtime rival Geneva (8-4-1, 5-0 PAC) in Presidents' Athletic Conference action at Reeves Field.
Geneva broke a 0-0 tie at 40:10 when Antonio Fiordilino scored on the rebound of his own miss. Following a Grove City foul in the box, Fiordilino attempted a penalty kick. Grove City sophomore goalkeeper
Teddy Almeter (Monroeville, Pa./Serra) made a diving stop of the penalty kick.
However, the ball caromed back to Fiordilino, who kicked it into the net for the lone goal of the night.
Almeter stopped six shots for Grove City (4-3-5, 3-1-1 PAC). Geneva held a 13-10 edge in total shots and a 7-5 advantage in shots on goal. Geneva had five corner kicks while Grove City recorded three corners.
The Wolverines will host conference foe Allegheny at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday at Don Lyle Field.
