GROVE CITY, Pa. -- The Grove City College women's soccer team closed the 2023 regular season Wednesday evening with a 2-1 victory over visiting Washington & Jefferson (10-3-4, 5-2-3) in Presidents' Athletic Conference action at Don Lyle Field.
Grove City (12-4-1) concludes the regular season with a 9-0-1 conference mark. The Wolverines will be the top seed in the season-ending six-team conference tournament.Â
Junior forward
Britta Lagerquist (Pittsburgh, Pa./Fox Chapel) assisted Grove City's first goal then scored the game-winner as the Wolverines picked up their seventh consecutive victory.
Grove City took a 1-0 lead at 8:22 when Lagerquist assisted a goal by junior forward
Emma Herrmann (Hilton, N.Y./Paul V. Moore). It is Herrmann's team-leading 16th goal of the season and Lagerquist's team-best seventh assist of 2023.
W&J forged a 1-1 tie at 13:15 when Selah Calcacan tallied her fourth goal of the season. The Wolverines reclaimed the lead 12:08 into the second half when Lagerquist scored her fifth goal of the season. It is Lagerquist's third game-winning goal of the season and the sixth of her career.Â

Natalie Merrick (Cranberry Township, Pa./Eden Christian) assisted Lagerquist's goal.Â
Each team had seven shots on goal. Grove City held a 13-11 advantage in total shots. W&J had three corner kicks while Grove City recorded a pair of corners.Â
Junior goalkeeper
Courtney Lisman (Mars, Pa./Mars) made six saves to earn her career-high 12th win of the season. She now has 33 career wins, which is tied for second-most in program history. Kristi Lathrop (2011-14) and Trishae Winters (2014-17) both had 33 wins. Katy Turman posted a school-record 34 wins from 1999 to 2002.
Herrmann's 16 goals this season are the most for a Grove City player since 2010, when Hannah Yang scored 18 goals. The 16 goals rank fifth on Grove City's single-season scoring list.Â
As top seed in the conference tournament, Grove City receives a bye to the semifinals. The Wolverines will host either No. 4 W&J or No. 5 Waynesburg at 7 p.m. next Wednesday, November 1. W&J hosts Waynesburg in the quarterfinals Saturday at 2:30 p.m.
