GROVE CITY, Pa. -- The Grove City College women's volleyball team rallied from a 2-0 deficit to force a fifth set Thursday night but visiting Washington & Jefferson captured the decisive fifth set, 15-9, to pull out a five-set win over the Wolverines in Presidents' Athletic Conference action at the Grove City College Arena.
W&J won by scores of 25-23, 25-19, 22-25, 25-27, 15-9. The fifth set featured six ties and three lead changes.
Four Grove City players posted double-digit kill totals Thursday night. Senior
Grace Kim (Sanford, N.C./Harnett Warriors) matched a career high with 15 kills while senior
Anna DeGraaf (Cranberry Township, Pa./Seneca Valley) and freshman
Alayna Dorst (Middletown, Del./Middletown) both recorded 11 kills. Junior
Audrey Donnelly (Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio/Woodridge) posted 10 kills.
Sophomore setter
Brooklyn Wirebaugh (Medina, Ohio/Cuyahoga Valley Christian) recorded a career-high 31 assists for the Wolveriens (15-8, 1-3 PAC) while junior
Kennedy Kerr (East Grand Rapids, Mich./East Grand Rapids) had 23 assists. Kerr served five aces while Wirebaugh added two aces.
Freshman libero
Julia Fisher (Lancaster, Pa./Lancaster Mennonite) led the defense with 35 digs. Kim collected 32 digs while Wirebaugh totaled 13 digs. Senior
Gabby Lucas (Butler, Pa./Butler) contributed a dozen digs and Kerr finished with 11 digs.
Donnelly posted three blocks. DeGraaf and freshman
Alexis Standford (Walkersville, Md./New Life Christian) both had two blocks.
Grove City will host conference foe Franciscan at 1 p.m. Saturday.
