GROVE CITY, Pa. -- The Grove City College women's lacrosse team dropped a 13-6 decision Saturday afternoon to visiting Allegheny in non-conference action at Robert E. Thorn Field.
Senior attack
Brooke Stoltzfus (Elverson, Pa./Conestoga Christian) fired in four goals to help pace the Wolverines (10-2) while junior midfielder
Madison Nazigian (Forest, Va./Jefferson Forest) and freshman midfielder
Amber Wartman (Ellicott City, Md./Mount Hebron) also scored.
Sophomore midfielder
Lucy Martin (Silver Spring, Md./Montgomery Blair) added an assist for Grove City, which entered the game on a 10-game win streak.
Allegheny (8-3) led 6-3 at halftime but Grove City trimmed the lead with 7:01 left in the third quarter when Stoltzfus scored an unassisted goal. Allegheny broke open the game by scoring the final four goals of the period, however.
Nazigian led Grove City with six draw controls and freshman
Abby Roetering (Glenelg, Md./Glenelg) added three draw controls. Roetering caused a game-high five turnovers while senior defender
Tirzah Lloyd (Durham, N.C./Homeschooled) caused two turnovers.
Roetering also led Grove City with five ground balls. Lloyd, Martin, Nazigian, Stoltzfus, Wartman, freshman defender
Sarah Jackson (Brookfield, Conn./Brookfield) and freshman goalie
Elyse Kiggins (Zelienople, Pa./Seneca Valley) all picked up three ground balls. Kiggins made three saves in goal.
Allegheny outshot Grove City, 22-19. Allegheny had 22 turnovers and Grove City had 21 turnovers.
The Wolverines return to Presidents' Athletic Conference action Thursday night at Chatham. The game will start at 7 p.m. in Pittsburgh.
