Grove City wins 10th straight

WAYNESBURG, Pa. -- The Grove City College women's lacrosse team earned its 10th straight victory Thursday night by rolling to a 19-3 triumph at Waynesburg University in Presidents' Athletic Conference play at Wiley Stadium. The Wolverines (10-1, 4-0 PAC) led 6-2 after one quarter and then outscored Waynesburg University 13-1 over the final 45 minutes.

Five Grove City players scored multiple goals Thursday night. Senior attack Grace Dymski (Carlisle, Pa./Carlisle) fired in a career-high four goals to lead the Wolverine offense. Senior attack Brooke Stoltzfus (Elverson, Pa./Conestoga Christian), junior midfielder Madison Nazigian (Forest, Va./Jefferson Forest) and freshman attack Abby Roetering (Glenelg, Md./Glenelg) all scored three times each for the Wolverines. 

Freshman attack Sarah Pindel (Hartville, Ohio/Lake) added a pair of goals. Freshman defender Sarah Jackson (Brookfield, Conn./Brookfield), freshman midfielder Maddie Krabitz (Catonsville, Md./Chapelgate Christian), sophomore midfielder Lucy Martin (Silver Spring, Md./Montgomery Blair) and freshman midfielder Amber Wartman (Ellicott City, Md./Mount Hebron) also scored for the Wolverines, who led 11-2 at halftime.

Martin and Nazigian both notched a pair of assists while Krabitz, Roetering and Stoltzfus each assisted one goal.

Nazigian led Grove City with nine draw controls and Wartman recorded four draw controls. Nazigian also led the Wolverines with five ground balls. Dymski, Martin, Roetering and Stoltzfus all picked up four ground balls. 

Martin caused a team-high four turnovers. Roetering and freshman defender Emily Arnold (Ijamsville, Md./Urbana) each caused three turnovers. Defensively, Grove City forced Waynesburg University (0-7, 0-4 PAC) into 34 turnovers. The Wolverines also held the hosts to 12 total shots and eight shots on goal.

Grove City outshot Waynesburg University, 44-12, and had a 33-8 edge in shots on goal. Grove City turned over possession 21 times.

Freshman Elyse Kiggins (Zelienople, Pa./Seneca Valley) made five saves to earn her league-leading 10th win of the season.

Grove City will host Allegheny in non-conference action Saturday at 1 p.m. at Robert E. Thorn Field. Conference play resumes next Thursday, April 14, at Chatham.
