Win streak reaches 10

GROVE CITY, Pa. -- The Grove City College men's lacrosse team closed the regular season home schedule Tuesday night with a 29-5 victory over Washington & Jefferson in Presidents' Athletic Conference action at Robert E. Thorn Field. Sixteen men scored goals for the Wolverines, who won their 10th straight overall game. 

Sophomore attack Trenton Steele (Littleton, Colo./Highlands Ranch) paced Grove City (12-4, 6-0 PAC) with a season-high five goals. Senior midfielder Brett Gladstone (Marriottsville, Md./Marriotts Ridge), junior attack James Petrolle (Damascus, Md./Damascus) and freshman attack Matt Blythe (Mendon, N.Y./Honeoye Falls-Lima) all fired in three goals each.

Senior attack Josh Spicher (Erie, Pa./McDowell), senior attack Michael La Forte (Waterford, Conn./Waterford) and freshman attack Zachary Hougan (Springboro, Ohio/Springboro) scored two goals apiece. 

Grove City also received goals from sophomore midfielder Griffen Agawa (San Ramon, Calif./California), senior attack Blaise Bishop (Glen Ellyn, Ill./Glenbard West), sophomore midfielder Jack Carpenter (Newtown, Conn./St. Joseph), freshman midfielder Tyler Curry (Huntington Beach, Calif./Mater Dei), senior Grant Evans (Pittsburgh, Pa./Upper Saint Clair), sophomore midfielder Elijah Gebhart (Las Vegas, Nev./Faith Lutheran), freshman midfielder Alec Jones (Chesterfield, N.J./Notre Dame), senior defender Josh Snell (Pittsburgh, Pa./Keystone Oaks) and freshman midfielder Trey Zabroski (Mountain Top, Pa./Crestwood). 

Hougan led Grove City with four assists and finished with six points. Spicher assisted three goals. Blythe, Jones, La Forte and Petrolle all tallied two assists. Bishop, Carpenter, Snell, Steele and junior midfielder David Kraus (Sewickley, Pa./Quaker Valley) each assisted one goal.

Evans won 15 of 16 faceoffs and had a team-leading 15 ground balls. Senior Keith Torrillo (Latrobe, Pa./Latrobe) added eight ground balls. He won 7 of 10 faceoffs. 

Blythe and Gladstone both caused two turnovers. In goal, junior Jack Petit (Pensacola, Fla./West Florida High School of Advanced Technology) made a season-high 13 saves to earn the win.

Grove City led 10-1 after one quarter and held a 19-1 halftime time lead. The Wolverines outshot W&J, 63-30, and had a 38-18 edge in shots on goal. W&J had 19 turnovers and Grove City had 18 turnovers. 

Grove City concludes the regular season Saturday at Westminster. A win will give Grove City the top seed in next week's conference tournament.
