Grove City wins road debut

BUFFALO, N.Y. -- Five Grove City College women's lacrosse players scored multiple goals Saturday to help lead the Wolverines to a 15-7 non-conference at Medaille. Saturday's game marked the first road tilt in program history.

Senior attack Brooke Stoltzfus (Elverson, Pa./Conestoga Christian) paced Grove City (2-1) with four goals in Saturday's victory. Senior attack Grace Dymski (Carlisle, Pa./Carlisle), junior midfielder Madison Nazigian (Forest, Va./Jefferson Forest), sophomore attack Madeline Dunda (Sewickley, Pa./Quaker Valley) and sophomore midfielder Lucy Martin (Silver Spring, Md./Montgomery Blair) all scored twice. 

Dymski, Martin and Stoltzfus each scored in the first quarter to give the Wolverines a 3-1 lead. Grove City led 4-3 at halftime before breaking open the game with eight straight goals in the third period. 

Stoltzfus scored twice in the quarter while Dymski, Martin and Nazigian also scored in the first 8:30 of the second half. Junior midfielder Meredith Basham (Olathe, Kansas/Olathe East), freshman midfielder Isabelle Campbell (Bend, Ore./Bend) and freshman attack Abby Roetering (Glenelg, Md./Glenelg) each added goals in the final 3:23, giving Grove City a 12-3 lead.

Dymski, Roetering and freshman midfielder Emily Arnold (Ijamsville, Md./Urbana) all assisted goals for the Wolverines.

Freshman defender Sarah Jackson (Brookfield, Conn./Brookfield) recorded five ground balls for Grove City and Stoltzfus picked up three ground balls. Jackson also caused five turnovers. Nazigian won eight draw controls and Arnold had four draw controls.

Grove City doubled up Medaille in total shots, 36-18. Grove City had 28 turnovers while Medaille had 31 turnovers. 

Freshman goaltender Elyse Kiggins (Zelienople, Pa./Seneca Valley) made five saves in her 49 minutes of action. Freshman Ava Fletcher (Telford, Pa./Homeschooled) played the final 11 minutes in goal.

Winners of two straight, Grove City will host La Roche at 1 p.m. next Saturday.
