GROVE CITY, Pa. -- The Grove City College men's soccer team dropped a 4-2 home decision Saturday night to NAIA member Point Park in non-conference action at Don Lyle Field.
Grove City jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first half on goals by sophomores
Jordan Rebsamen (Charlotte, N.C./Carmel Christian) and
Ari Campbell (Memphis, Tenn./White Station). Rebsamen gave Grove City a 1-0 lead at 12:21 with his third goal of the season after receiving a cross from junior forward
Hunter Hardin (North Ridgeville, Ohio/Freeport).
Campbell doubled the lead at 30:48 with his first goal of the season. Junior midfielder
Lance Lenosky (Bradenton, Fla./Braden River) and senior defender
Aaron McFeaters (North Canton, Ohio/Hoover) both recorded assists on the goal. Lenosky sent a corner kick into the box and McFeaters then directed the ball to Campbell near the left side of the goal.
Point Park rebounded in the second half, however, as Moritz Sarfert and Philipp Harder both scored twice in the final 45 minutes. Harder's penalty kick goal at 70:18 broke a 2-2 tie.
The match featured six goals but only 12 total shots as Point Park had a 7-5 edge in that category. Grove City had six corner kicks while Point Park had two.
