NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. -- The Grove City College men's basketball team dropped a 68-66 decision Thursday night at Westminster in Presidents' Athletic Conference action at Memorial Field House.
Grove City trailed 66-61 with two minutes left but rallied to tie the game. Senior guard
Ben Rose (Helena, Ala./Helena) drilled a jumper and freshman guard
Jonah Bock (Erie, Pa./McDowell) buried a three-pointer on the Wolverines' next possession.
Westminster took a 67-66 lead when Tyler James split a pair of free throws. After Grove City misfired, Westminster's Daniel Ritter went 1 for 2 at the foul line. Grove City's game-tying shot at the buzzer then missed the mark.
Rose led Grove City with 22 points on 11 of 17 shooting while junior forward
Elijah White (Zelienople, Pa./Portersville Christian) added 11 points. Bock hit three three-pointers to account for his nine points.
Rose also pulled in a game-high 10 rebounds to help Grove City own a 44-31 edge on the glass. White had six boards. Rose recorded three assists.
Grove City shot 27 of 65 (42 percent) from the field. Westminster converted 23 of 56 (41 percent) field goal attempts. Grove City had 10 turnovers and Westminster totaled eight turnovers.
Anthony Ritter led Westminster (10-5, 7-2 PAC) with 20 points. Westminster led 34-28 at halftime.
Grove City (6-7, 2-4 PAC) will visit Waynesburg in conference play Saturday at 3 p.m.
