Wolverines rally past Houghton

HOUGHTON, N.Y. -- The Grove City College men's soccer team evened its record at 1-1 Saturday afternoon by rallying for a 2-1 victory at Houghton in non-conference action at Burke Field. The Wolverines trailed 1-0 at halftime before scoring twice in the final 33 minutes to seize victory.

Junior forward Sam Belitz (Independence, Ohio/Independence) scored in the 86th minute to break a 1-1 tie. The unassisted goal is Belitz's second tally of the season. It is also his fourth career game-winning goal.

Grove City forged a 1-1 tie at 57:58 when sophomore forward Hunter Hardin (North Ridgeville, Ohio/Freeport) scored after receiving an assist from classmate Chris DeLucia (Kent, Ohio/Cuyahoga Valley Christian). It is Hardin's first goal of the season and DeLucia's first assist.

Senior goalkeeper Luke Greenway (Penn Hills, Pa./Penn Hills) earned the win by making one save. Grove City's defense limited the Highlanders to six total shots, including one in the second half. The Wolverines outshot Houghton, 10-6, and also had a 5-2 edge in corner kicks.

Saturday's match starts a three-game road swing for the Wolverines. Grove City will play a pair of matches in Ohio next week. The Wolverines play Friday afternoon at Kenyon, then visit Ohio Wesleyan the next evening.
