Grove City drops pair at Calvin

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. -- The Grove City College volleyball team dropped a pair of matches Friday afternoon in the opening day of action of Calvin University's Labor Day Classic. Grove City opened the day with a 25-14, 25-15, 25-19 setback against No. 3 Calvin. The Wolverines then fell to regional powerhouse Otterbein in Saturday's second tilt, 25-19, 26-24, 25-21.

Junior Faith Keating (Troy, Mich./Troy) paced Grove City (1-2) with seven kills in the opener against host Calvin. Freshman setters Kennedy Kerr (East Grand Rapids, Mich./East Grand Rapids) and Katie Kenlein (Spokane, Wash./Lewis and Clark) both recorded six assists. 

Freshman Audrey Donnelly (Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio/Woodridge) paced the defense with three digs. Junior Robyn Collier (Corona, Calif./Carnegie Riverside) added two blocks. Sophomore libero Gabby Lucas (Butler, Pa./Butler) recorded 18 digs and freshman Mya Lathem (Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio/Woodridge) added 11 digs. 

Keating, Lathem and sophomore Grace Kim (Sanford, N.C./Homeschooled) all posted five kills in the nightcap against Otterbein. Kerr totaled six assists and Kenlein chalked up five assists. 

Sophomore Anna DeGraaf (Cranberry Township, Pa./Seneca Valley) led the defense with four blocks while Kim and Donnelly both had two blocks. Lucas recorded 12 digs and Keating had 10 digs. 

Grove City returns to action Saturday with a pair of matches at Calvin. The Wolverines play Augusburg at 11 a.m., then face Kalamazoo in the 1 p.m. finale.
