WASHINGTON, Pa. -- The Grove City College women's soccer team held a decided advantage in total shots, shots on goal and corner kicks Wednesday night at Washington & Jefferson. But the host Presidents scored the lone goal of the match in the first half to earn a 1-0 victory over Grove City in both teams' Presidents' Athletic Conference opener at Alexandre Stadium.
W&J broke a scoreless tie at 38:07 when Kayla Daugherty scored an unassisted goal from 35 yards out.
Grove City (3-6, 0-1 PAC) outshot W&J, 22-7, and held an 8-3 edge in shots on goal. Grove City also had six corner kicks and did not allow a W&J corner kick.

Grove City's five-match road swing continues Saturday night at Waynesburg. That conference match will begin at 6 p.m.
