GROVE CITY, Pa. -- The Grove City College volleyball team picked up a pair of non-conference wins Saturday afternoon as the Wolverines swept a tri-match at the Grove City College Arena. Grove City opened the day with a 25-14, 25-15, 25-15 victory over Regent. The Wolverines then swept La Roche, 25-16, 25-16, 25-21. Grove City has won three straight matches.
Junior
Faith Keating (Troy, Mich./Troy) helped pace Grove City (4-3) in the opener with 11 kills in two sets of action. Sophomore
Anna DeGraaf (Cranberry Township, Pa./Seneca Valley) added seven kills and senior
Carrie Dill (Mount Pleasant, Ohio/Buckeye Local) recorded six kills.Â
Freshman setter
Kennedy Kerr (East Grand Rapids, Mich./East Grand Rapids) distributed 26 assists and classmate
Katie Kenlein (Spokane, Wash./Lewis and Clark) added 10 assists. Kenlein also served three aces and Kerr tallied a pair of aces.Â
Dill and junior
Robyn Collier (Corona, Calif./Carnegie Riverside) each posted four blocks to help lead the defense. Senior
Amanda Schmidt (Pittsburgh, Pa./Trinity Christian) added two blocks.Â
Sophomore libero
Gabby Lucas (Butler, Pa./Butler) recorded a team-high 18 digs. Freshman
Mya Lathem (Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio/Woodridge) contributed 16 digs and Keating had 10 digs.Â
Keating posted a team-high 10 kills in the nightcap against La Roche. Freshman
Audrey Donnelly (Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio/Woodridge) added seven kills and DeGraaf delivered six kills in two sets of action. Kerr served a career-high five aces and Kenlein served two more aces. Kerr chalked up 17 assists and Kenlein added a dozen assists.Â
Donnelly had three blocks while DeGraaf and sophomore
Grace Kim (Sanford, N.C./Homeschooled) each had two blocks. Lucas again had 18 digs while Lathem recorded 12 digs. Keating (11) and Kerr (10) also had double-digit dig totals.
Grove City will visit Penn State Behrend in non-conference play Wednesday at 7 p.m. Presidents' Athletic Conference play starts next Saturday, September 18, with a home tri-match against Bethany and Saint Vincent. The tri-match will begin at 4 p.m.
