GROVE CITY, Pa. -- The Grove City College men's soccer team dropped a 4-1 decision Wednesday night to visiting Oberlin in non-conference action at Don Lyle Field. Grove City (0-1) led 1-0 at halftime but Oberlin (1-0) scored three times in a three-minute span during the second half.

Sam Belitz (Independence, Ohio/Independence) gave Grove City a 1-0 lead at 34:39 when he scored on a penalty kick.
Oberlin forged a 1-1 tie at 53:51 when Ben Kessler scored an unassisted goal. The Yeomen then took the lead for good by scoring successive goals. Augie Smith scored at 72:34 while Brian LaFranchi followed with Oberlin's third goal at 74:11. Nic Jandeleit added an insurance goal at 75:08.
Oberlin outshot Grove City, 9-7. Grove City had five corner kicks and Oberlin had four corners. Senior goalkeeper
Luke Greenway (Penn Hills, Pa./Penn Hills) recorded one save for Grove City.
The Wolverines open the road portion of the 2021 schedule Saturday afternoon at Houghton. That non-conference match will start at 3:30 p.m.
