GROVE CITY, Pa. -- The Grove City College men's soccer team pulled out a 2-1 victory Friday night over visiting Washington & Jefferson in Presidents' Athletic Conference action on Senior Night at Don Lyle Field. The Wolverines conclude the spring 2021 regular season with a 7-1 record, which guarantees them at least one home match in next week's conference tournament.
Grove City grabbed a 1-0 lead at 23:34 when senior defender
Jeffrey Biddle (Grove City, Pa./Grove City) scored his first collegiate goal. Junior forward
Holton Gwaltney (New Palestine, Ind./New Palestine) assisted Biddle's score.
W&J (6-2-1 PAC) forged a 1-1 at 37:21 when McKinley Joseph scored his second goal of the season.
The Wolverines reclaimed the lead at the 79:39 mark as freshman forward
Hunter Hardin (North Ridgeville, Ohio/Freeport) scored from close range after junior
Kennan Roewer (Colorado Springs, Colo./Classical Academy) threaded a pass to him from the top of the box.Â

Luke Greenway (Penn Hills, Pa./Penn Hills) stopped two shots to preserve the victory. Each team had 10 shots in the match. Grove City held an 8-6 advantage in corner kicks.

Grove City will host a conference tournament semifinal Tuesday night. The Wolverines will be either the No. 1 or No. 2 seed. Grove City's seeding and opponent will be determined by the results of Saturday and Sunday's matches around the conference.
