Sam Belitz (Independence, Ohio/Independence) and junior midfielder
Kennan Roewer (Colorado Springs, Colo./The Classical Academy) each scored first-half goals Tuesday afternoon to help lift the Grove City College men's soccer team to a 2-0 win at Bethany in Presidents' Athletic Conference action at Rine Field.
Grove City (5-1, 5-1 PAC) grabbed a 1-0 lead at 14:33 when Belitz scored his team-leading sixth goal of the season. Freshman midfielder
Chris DeLucia (Kent, Ohio/Cuyahoga Valley Christian) assisted Belitz's goal.
Roewer doubled the lead to 2-0 when he scored an unassisted goal at 23:35.Â
In goal, junior
Luke Greenway (Penn Hills, Pa./Penn Hills) stopped six shots, all in the first half, to earn the shutout victory. It is Grove City's third shutout of the season. Greenway now has 21 career wins, which ranks seventh on Grove City's career list.
Bethany (2-4-1, 2-4-1) held a 14-8 edge in shots, along with a 6-5 edge in shots on goal. Bethany had seven corner kicks while Grove City earned three corners.Â
Grove City's scheduled match Thursday afternoon at Saint Vincent has been postponed. The Wolverines will return to action next Tuesday at 7 p.m. when they host conference foe Franciscan at Don Lyle Field.
