NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. -- The Grove City College men's basketball team dropped a 78-68 verdict Saturday afternoon at Westminster in Presidents' Athletic Conference action at Memorial Field House.
Senior guard
Justice Rice (Monessen, Pa./Monessen) paced Grove City (1-2) with 15 points and redshirt freshman forward
Luca Robinson (Castaic, Calif./Hart) added a dozen points. Senior guard
Erik Meiners (Centerville, Ohio/Centerville) chipped in eight points.
Consecutive jumpers by sophomore forward
Elijah White (Zelienople, Pa./Portersville Christian) and Robinson gave Grove City a 15-12 lead midway through the first half. However, Westminster took the lead for good with a 12-0 run over a six-minute span. Westminster (5-1) led 34-24 at halftime.
Grove City shot 38 percent (27 of 72) from the field for the game while Westminster finished 26 of 60 (43 percent). Westminster out-rebounded Grove City, 49-41. Junior guard
Ben Rose (Helena, Ala./Helena) led the Wolverines with eight rebounds.
Junior center
Josh Brown (Enumclaw, Wash./Enumclaw) recorded four assists and Rice had three assists. Grove City turned over the ball 15 times while Westminster registered 17 turnovers.
Daniel Ritter led Westminster with 30 points.
Grove City will visit Saint Vincent at 7 p.m. Monday in conference action.
