GROVE CITY, Pa. -- Led by a career-high 30 points from senior guard
Jess Bowen (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Hills), the Grove City College women's basketball team improved to 2-0 overall Saturday afternoon by earning an 89-56 victory over visiting Geneva (2-3) in Presidents' Athletic Conference action at the Grove City College Arena.

Allison Podkul (Greensburg, Pa./Hempfield) recorded her second straight double-double, posting 13 points and 10 rebounds. Senior forward
Jessica Kimbrell (Centerville, Ohio/Centerville) added 10 points on 4-of-5 shooting from the floor.
Bowen posted the first 30-point performance in a home game for Grove City since February 5, 2011, when Christine Slater scored 31 points against visiting Bethany. It is the first 30-point outing for a Grove City player since Lexie Arkwright scored 30 points December 30, 2017 at Houghton.
Bowen scored Grove City's first 14 points of the game, helping the Wolverines rally from an early 6-0 deficit. Sophomore guard
Megan Kallock (Greensburg, Pa./Greensburg Salem) followed Bowen's outburst with a pair of field goals and Kimbrell also scored, giving Grove City a 20-0 lead with two minutes remaining in the first quarter.
Grove City led 23-13 after one quarter, then extended the lead to 42-26 by halftime. The Wolverines then opened the third quarter with an 11-2 spurt as Podkul scored seven of her 13 points during the run.
Three-pointers by senior forward
Gretchen Elsey (Pulaski, Pa./West Middlesex) and senior guard
Lauren Frederick (New Wilmington, Pa./Wilmington) ignited a 10-run to close the third quarter. Grove City led 75-40 after 30 minutes.
Grove City shot 35 of 88 (40 percent) from the field for the game while Geneva went 20 of 72 (28 percent). Grove City out-rebounded Geneva, 62-51. Bowen and senior guard
Jordan McConnell (Smithville, Ohio/Smithville) both had seven rebounds while Kimbrell added six boards.
Bowen also dished out seven assists and did not have a turnover. She now has 230 career assists and moved from 10th to sixth place on the program's career list. She added six steals.
McConnell doled out five assists while freshman forward
Kat Goetz (Pittsburgh, Pa./Avonworth) recorded three steals. Kallock finished with nine points and Elsey contributed eight points.
Grove City will host conference foe Saint Vincent at 5:30 p.m. Monday.
