WAYNESBURG, Pa. -- Junior center back
Aaron McFeaters (North Canton, Ohio/Hoover) recorded the first hat trick by a Grove City College men's soccer player in four seasons Saturday night as his three goals helped lift the Wolverines to a 4-2 Presidents' Athletic Conference road win over Waynesburg at Wiley Stadium.
Sophomore forward
Hunter Hardin (North Ridgeville, Ohio/Freeport) also scored for the Wolverines, who remain atop the conference with a 2-0 league record.
Grove City took a 1-0 lead at 35:13 when McFeaters scored off an assist from junior forward
Sam Belitz (Independence, Ohio/Independence). Waynesburg tied the match with 14 seconds left in the half, however, on a Connor Jacobs goal.
Grove City seized control by scoring three straight goals in the second half. McFeaters scored an unassisted goal at 46:33 to give the Wolverines the lead for good. Five minutes later, Hardin scored the game-winning goal after assists from Belitz and junior forward
Mark Guinta (Fairfield, Conn./Christian Heritage) at 51:46. It is Hardin's third goal of the season and first game-winner this fall.
McFeaters then completed his hat trick with a goal at 75:27. Freshman forward
Jordan Rebsamen (Charlotte, N.C./Carmel Christian) assisted the score.
Waynesburg closed the scoring at 82:35 when Samuel Hawkins scored.
Grove City owned an 18-9 edge in total shots and an 8-6 edge in shots on goal. The Wolverines had four corner kicks and Waynesburg recorded three corners.Â
Senior
Luke Greenway (Penn Hills, Pa./Penn Hills) played the first half in goal and made one save. Junior
Jesse Greyshock (Tarentum, Pa./Deer Lakes) earned the win by stopping three shots in the second half.Â
Belitz now has a team-leading three assists. He also leads the team with five goals and 13 points. McFeaters ranks second on the squad with four goals and nine points.
Grove City will visit Thiel at 7 p.m. Tuesday in conference action.
