Wolverines turn tables on Chatham

GROVE CITY, Pa. -- Nine days after dropping a five-set decision at Chatham, the Grove City College volleyball team evened the season series with the Cougars by securing a 22-25, 25-23, 25-17, 25-18 victory over Chatham in Presidents' Athletic Conference play Saturday afternoon at the Grove City College Arena. 

The win moves Grove City (16-7, 9-3 PAC) one game ahead of Chatham (13-6, 8-4) in the conference standings. The teams entered Saturday's match tied for second in the league.

Junior Faith Keating (Troy, Mich./Troy) paced Grove City's balanced offensive attack by pounding out 14 kills. Sophomore Katie Pry (Enon, Ohio/Greenon) added 10 kills while sophomore Anna DeGraaf (Cranberry Township, Pa./Seneca Valley) posted nine kills. Sophomore Eloise Augustine (West Chester, Ohio/Mars Hill) contributed eight kills and senior Carrie Dill (Mount Pleasant, Ohio/Buckeye Local) recorded seven kills on 14 attacks.

Freshman setters Katie Kenlein (Spokane, Wash./Lewis and Clark) and Kennedy Kerr (East Grand Rapids, Mich./East Grand Rapids) both distributed 21 assists. Freshman Mya Lathem (Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio/Woodridge) served three aces.

Augustine led the defense with a career-high 35 digs. Lathem recorded 18 digs while Keating totaled 17 digs. Kenlein (13) and Kerr (11) both had double-digit dig performances.

Dill chalked up a team-high four blocks while DeGraaf had three blocks. Keating and Pry both had two blocks.

Grove City is now 8-0 at home this season. The Wolverines have won nine straight home matches, dating back to the spring 2021 season. 

The Wolverines will visit Saint Vincent at 7 p.m. Tuesday in conference play.
