Box Score DALLAS, Texas -- The Grove City College women's soccer team opened the 2017 season Friday night by dropping a 2-1 decision at Texas-Dallas in the Wolverines' first-ever match in the state of Texas.
Grove City (0-1) broke through at 86:04 when senior defender
Megan Van Kirk (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Allegheny) scored her first goal of the season after receiving a cross from junior defender
Krista Heckman (Lock Haven, Pa./Central Mountain). Van Kirk's goal cut the Comets' lead in half.
Following a scoreless first half, Texas-Dallas (1-0) took a 1-0 lead on Jacquie Kaufman's goal at 58:09. Melissa Fulfer scored the eventual game-winner for the Comets at 63:52.Â

Trishae Winters (Pittsburgh, Pa./Hampton) stopped seven shots for Grove City. Texas-Dallas outshot Grove City, 21-15. Each team had six corner kicks.
Saturday night, Grove City will face North Central (Ill.) at 6 p.m. Eastern in Dallas.Â
