GROVE CITY, Pa. -- The Grove City College baseball team improved to 6-2 in the Presidents' Athletic Conference Monday afternoon by earning a 4-1 home win over Thiel (11-6, 4-1 PAC) at R. Jack Behringer Field.
Sophomore pitcher
John Bini (Staten Island, N.Y./Xaverian) fired a complete game for Grove City, striking out three in nine innings. Bini improved to 2-0 this season and 11-0 for his career.Â
Grove City (9-9 overall) broke a 1-1 tie by scoring three times in the bottom of the eighth. Junior center fielder
Tyler Graham (Vandergrift, Pa./Kiski Area) singled in sophomore third baseman
Micah Burke (Gilbert, Ariz./E.V.A.C.) with one out, giving Grove City a 2-1 lead.
Sophomore DH
Travis Auth (Medina, Ohio/Medina) then laced a two-run double down the left-field line, scoring sophomore second baseman
Bobby Dulay (Youngstown, Ohio/Ursuline) and Graham.
Grove City seized a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the third when Burke scored on a Graham groundout. Graham and Auth both finished 2 for 4.
Grove City returns to action Wednesday afternoon for a single conference game at Bethany. The Wolverines swept a doubleheader from Bethany last Wednesday at R. Jack Behringer Field.Â
