NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. -- The Grove City College women's soccer team capped the 2017 regular season Saturday afternoon by earning a 1-0 victory over Presidents' Athletic Conference rival Westminster at Memorial Field. The win is Grove City's ninth straight. The victory also eliminated Westminster from contention for next week's conference tournament.
Grove City (14-4, 8-1 PAC) broke through at the 6:42 mark when senior midfielder
Lindsay Hutton (Hackettstown, N.J./Hackettstown) headed in a corner kick from junior defender
Claire Kocur (Cranberry Township, Pa./Seneca Valley). Hutton leads the team with 10 goals, including a conference-best six game-winning goals. Kocur owns five assists.
Defensively, senior goalkeeper
Trishae Winters (Pittsburgh, Pa./Hampton) recorded her sixth shutout of the season by making two saves. She now has 31 career wins.Â
Grove City owned a 24-5 edge in shots. The Wolverines had 11 corner kicks while Westminster (10-8, 5-4 PAC) had six corners.Â
Grove City will host No. 3 seed Washington & Jefferson in the conference tournament semifinals Tuesday afternoon at 2 p.m.
