Jason Baker will be entering his fourth season as Grove City College head women's basketball coach in 2026-27.
In 2025-26, Baker piloted the Wolverines to the inaugural Presidents' Athletic Conference North Division championship. The Wolverines went 17-9 overall and 11-5 in conference play, along with a 9-2 home record. The 17 total wins marked Grove City's highest single-season total in six seasons.
Two years ago, Baker guided Grove City to the conference tournament semifinals as the Wolverines finished 16-11 overall and 13-7 in league play. Guard Mara Polczynski earned the league's Defensive Player of the Year award, along with Second Team All-PAC recognition.
The College appointed Baker as head women's basketball coach in spring 2024 after he worked as the program's interim head coach during the 2023-24 campaign. The Wolverines went 10-10 in Presidents' Athletic Conference action during the 2023-24 season.
Baker spent two seasons as Grove City's assistant women's basketball coach before moving into the head coaching position.
In 2021-22, Baker helped the youthful Wolverines to a 17-9 overall record and a 13-5 mark in conference play, good for second place in the league standings. Grove City won 16 games during the 2022-23 season.
Baker joined the Grove City athletic department in August 2021 after spending four seasons as head girls basketball coach at Cardinal Mooney High School in Youngstown, Ohio. As Cardinal Mooney head coach, he guided the Cardinals to a 56-32 overall record and back-to-back Steel Valley Conference titles. Cardinal Mooney posted an undefeated league record in both of those championship seasons.
Baker also worked as an assistant girls basketball coach at Canfield (Ohio) High School, where he helped the team to the All-American Conference title.
Baker earned a bachelor's degree in physical education in 1998 from Muskingum College, where he played baseball.
