Jeff Buxton is in his sixth season as Grove City College head men's and women's tennis coach.
In his first five seasons at the College, he has guided Grove City's tennis teams to six total Presidents' Athletic Conference titles. The men's team won the conference title in each of Buxton's first four years as coach while the women's program earned league crowns in 2014 and 2015.
Buxton earned the conference's Coach of the Year award in men's tennis in both 2013 and 2016. He also captured PAC Coach of the Year recognition in women's tennis in 2014.Â
Grove City players have earned Presidents' Athletic Conference Player of the Year honors four times under Buxton. Caroline McGuire earned the league's top women's tennis individual honor in both 2012 and 2014 while Peter Riley earned men's tennis Player of the Year distinction in 2014 and 2015.Â
Buxton joined the College's athletic department in July 2012 as head tennis coach and as an assistant professor of physical education and exercise science.
He came to Grove City after spending nine years as the general manager of One on One Fitness Consultants in State College, Pa.Â
In that position, Buxton developed One on One's personal fitness training instructor program and educational curriculum. He also coordinated and oversaw the development of all staff members.
Buxton also served as a guest lecturer for the Penn State University Kinesiology Club and various kinesiology classes.
He has been certified as a National Academy of Sports Medicine Enhancement Specialist and as an ACE Certified Personal Trainer.
Buxton earned a bachelor's of science degree in kinesiology/movement science from Penn State in 2003. He completed his master of science in exercise science and health promotion at California University of Pennsylvania in December 2010.
A native of Wyoming, Pa., Buxton resides in Grove City with his wife, Mandie, and their three children.
