In 2019, Sasala assisted head coach Matt Royer in leading the Wolverines to a then-program record 28 victories. Sasala served as the team's interim head coach during the Eastern College Athletic Conference Division III Championship Tournament, guiding Grove City to a runner-up finish.
The 2016 Wolverines went 27-17 overall and won the ECAC D-III Southwest title.
Sasala joined the Wolverines following a successful collegiate playing career at fellow conference member Waynesburg, where he was a two-time All-PAC Second Team selection at shortstop after playing for two years at NCAA Division II Seton Hill.
He earned his bachelor's degree in criminal justice from Waynesburg University in 2013 and added his master's in counseling from WU in 2015. He lives in Grove City with wife Shannon and their two children.
