NEW CASTLE, Pa. -- The Grove City College women's golf team opened the 2026-27 season Saturday afternoon by taking second at the Westminster Invitational, held at Avalon Field. Grove City finished with a team score of 362 to earn runner-up. Westminster won the team title with a 357 total.

Senior Lauren Kardos (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Allegheny) tied for first place individually by shooting an 80. Officially, she took second overall after being edged on the second playoff hole by Westminster's Katie Rose Rankin.

Sophomore Emily Burling (Hudson, Ohio/Hudson) joined Kardos in the top three as she finished third with an 85. 

Sophomore Mackenzie Boley (Mogadore, Ohio/Field) finished 12th by carding a 98. Junior Sydney Goettel placed 14th with a 99 and junior Gabby Kinneer (Mount Pleasant, Pa./Mount Pleasant) rounded out the lineup with a 106, good for 18th.

Three Grove City players competed as individuals. Senior Madylin Galbreath (Ellwood City, Pa./Ellwood City) finished 20th by shooting a 109. Freshman Kailey Burton (Plum, Pa./Plum) took 22nd with a 111. Junior Alyssa Shaw (Carlisle, Pa./West Shore Christian) followed in 24th place with a 112.

Saturday's tournament featured 39 competitors. 

The Wolverines return to action September 6 at the Mount Union Invitational.
