STATE COLLEGE, Pa. -- The Grove City College women's golf team earned fifth place at the 11-team Pennsylvania Classic, hosted March 28-29 by Penn State Altoona at Penn State's White Course. Grove City finished the 36-hole tournament with a team score of 692 after respective rounds of 347 and 345.
Washington & Jefferson won the event with a 661 and Susquehanna placed second with a team score of 668.
Grove City placed two competitors in the top 10. Freshman
Emily Burling (Hudson, Ohio/Hudson) finished fifth with a 160. Burling shot a 79 Saturday, then carded an 81 in the final round. Junior
Lauren Kardos (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Allegheny) earned eighth with a two-day score of 164. She shot 83 and 81, respectively.
Senior Hailey Muñoz (Sparta, N.Y./Morris Catholic) took 23rd place with a 180 (88-92). Sophomore
Gabrielle Kinneer (Mount Pleasant, Pa./Mount Pleasant) finished 28th by posting rounds of 97 and 91, good for a total of 188.
Senior
Rebekah Gaehring (Hawthorne, N.J./Hawthorne) rounded out the lineup by finishing 45th. Gaehring posted a 202 (103-99).
Sophomore
Sydney Goettel (Churchville, N.Y./Churchville-Chili) competed as an individual and placed 37th. Goettel shot consecutive 97s, giving her a 194.
Susquehanna's Kennedy Petrovich won medalist honors with a 148. Fifty-eight women competed in the event.
The Wolverines will compete April 11 in the Susquehanna Invitational in Selinsgrove, Pa.
